Such a cliche…

Posted on

As I hauled myself out of bed at 5.40am this morning (Freya’s new, very precise, wake-up time), it struck me that we have become a walking, talking, mummy/toddler cliché. My symptoms: extreme tiredness, a feeling of being constantly on edge and a mind which is in many places at any one time but is very rarely focused. Freya’s symptoms: an overwhelming urge to find danger, an attraction to all household items which aren’t her toys, an insatiable amount of energy. One of us is definitely contributing to the other’s symptoms, and it certainly isn’t me. So, what can we do to overcome this conundrum? How can I find sanity when I know my baby is just about to catch her finger in a cupboard, or trip over her mega bloks or put her head inside the washing machine? I find myself asking mums of older children, will I always be so tired? Will she always be so active? They fail to calm my fears. So I have decided to look into ways to relax with a toddler…or without her as the case may be.

Book a Spa is a website with spa days from £48 all over the UK.

Yoga is a great stress reliever and this website has classes all over the country.

A relaxing bubble bath at the end of the day.

Two hours a week of you time – whether it’s meeting a friend for a drink, going for a swim, looking around the shops, or reading a good book.

Let’s hope it works…
